Our initial expertise came out of engineering studies of wastewater user fees and capacity analysis of utility infrastructure. These studies often led to a request by the client to have the information gathered in the study available in a dynamic model. In addition, there was a recommendation to maintain and update the information through everyday processes. The processes were needed for customer service and general infrastructure management. Most of our clients lack the sophistication to learn applications on their own, the staff to maintain the information and the technical computer resources.
A simple application to provide basic geographic and customer information with little or no staff and support was the answer. The direction of the company was set to provide for this need. To accomplish this, SDL initially began developing applications in ESRI ArcView®. With the introductions of MapObjects®, we greatly enhanced the concepts of the original ArcView applications. Likewise, with the advent of the Internet and ArcObjects, we plan to further enhance our concepts with a far more centralized solution.
